Police find the bodies of a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old son in a house in Las Gabias
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation after the discovery yesterday morning (Saturday) of the dead bodies of a pregnant 38-year-old woman and her three-year-old son in a house in the municipality of Las Gabias in Granada.
The Andalusia Emergency Services have reported that the incident took place around 9.15am, when a man who identified himself as the victim's partner, contacted the 112 call centre in the Balearic Islands to warn of an alleged break-in at his home and that his wife wasn’t answering her phone, which is located in the Los Chopos urbanization in Las Gabias.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre, which had no warnings from the alarm at the aforementioned home, dispatched the Guard Civil, medical personnel, and the fire brigade, who broke down the door to gain entry to the house, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of a woman, in an advanced state of pregnancy, and her three-year-old son.
At the moment, the circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear, for which the Guardia Civil has activated the corresponding judicial protocol and opened an investigation, of which no further details have been provided at the moment.
The mayoress of Las Gabias, María Merinda Sábada, has referred to the "strange" circumstances of the incident, explaining that the victim's partner, who is a pilot, was away for work reasons, but warned of an alleged break-in at his home.
However, investigating officers say that they did not initially find anything "strange" at the property, no sign of a break-in, or tampering with the perimeter of the property, although the presence of blood was visible on one of the windows.
Sources close to the investigation say that there was blood and smoke in the house when the fire brigade went inside, although the specific origin of the latter is unknown.
