Ryanair accounts for half of passenger complaints at Valencian Airports in 2024
Ryanair has become the focal point of passenger complaints at airports in the Valencian Community this year. According to data from the Conselleria de Turismo, the Irish airline accounted for more than half of the complaints made by travellers at Alicante-Elche Airport, the busiest in the region.
Out of 41 complaints registered in the first eight months of 2024 at Alicante Airport, Ryanair was the subject of 22. This airport has seen significant traffic, with 1.98 million passengers recorded so far this year.
Following Ryanair in the number of complaints are Iberia and AENA, each with six complaints, and Vueling with four. Other companies mentioned in the complaint list include Norwegian, Volotea, and Menzies Aviation.
Valencia Airport, despite handling fewer passengers (1.09 million) than Alicante-Elche, saw a surprisingly high number of complaints, totalling 103. Once again, Ryanair topped the list with 40 complaints, followed by Vueling with 13 and Volotea with eight.
Castellón Airport, which has seen far less traffic, registered five complaints, divided between Vueling (three) and Ryanair (two).
The primary reasons behind these complaints include issues with baggage, quality of service, and additional charges for services such as seat selection.
