VIDEO: Valenciana has 160 litres/m² of rain in just four hours
The Castellon province of Valenciana felt the full force of the storm last night (Friday) that has been affecting the region for the last few days, with 160 litres/m² of rain in La Plana in Castellon in just four hours, according to the Emergency Services.
AEMET had an active weather alert until midday yesterday for heavy rain, but meteorologists had predicted that the most active front could move northwards during the night. As a result of this, Vall d’Alba received 96 litres/m², with another 90.4 litres/m² in Pobla Tornesa, and 83 litres/m² in Benicàssim.
The Castellon Provincial Fire Brigade reported that they had attended to 74 callouts due to the rain and storms by 8:30pm, rescuing seven people from cars who were trapped by the water.
They also dealt with incidents in the municipalities of Orpesa, Cabanes, Almassora, Vilareal, and LaValldUixó, but nothing that was classed as a serious accident.
According to the AEMET forecast for today, Saturday, it is expected to be a day with little or no rain, but tomorrow it is expected to return.
