20 cents extra for ice… would you pay it?
A woman in Nerja, on the Costa del Sol, has taken to Facebook to question why she was charged 20 cents for an ice cube in a local bar. Erika Chalker was in the bar with two friends who all ordered a glass of wine but was shocked when she got the bill with the extra charge on it.
She posted a photograph of her receipt on social media asking “I do expect to pay more for things in Nerja than in surrounding towns, but have to say it took me by surprise to be charged an extra 20 cents for requesting ‘un cubito de hielo’ be added to my not-cold-enough white wine”.
As you can see on the bill, the bar charge 2,50 euros for two of the wines and 2.70 for the third because she requested an ice cube as it wasn’t cold enough in the first place.
She continued by saying: “When I queried why the bill was indivisible by three, a shrugged shoulder accompanied the news that they charge for ice. Is this normal?”
What do you think? Have been charged or paid extra for ice in a bar anywhere in Spain?
