A dangerous wanted fugitive is arrested in the Costa del Sol
The National Police have arrested a ‘highly dangerous’ fugitive in Marbella who had an active European arrest warrant against him. The German man was put on the wanted list following an attack on another man in the city of Augsburg in Germany on June 19th. The victim suffered serious injuries, and the assailant fled the country and headed to Spain.
Thanks to international police cooperation, investigators received information from the German authorities about the location of the ‘highly dangerous international fugitive’, who was hiding in Marbella on the Costa del Sol.
After various inquiries, investigators found that he was staying in a hotel, so they set up a surveillance team to verify it was him and to detain him. On Thursday 29th June, the police managed to arrest the fugitive, who was taken to police headquarters in Marbella to await trial.
He admitted that he was intending to travel from Spain to the Republic of Lebanon, where an acquaintance had offered him €10,000 to start a new life. However, his plan was intercepted before he could flee thanks to the intensive police investigation, which led to his arrest.
