AENA installs the first “Pet Park” in Spain in Madrid Airport
In a groundbreaking move for animal welfare, Madrid-Barajas Airport has introduced a dedicated space for pets within its terminals, opening the first “Pet Park” in Spain located in the arrivals area of Terminal 1.
This innovative initiative marks a pioneering step towards enhancing the well-being of animals within the airport premises. Plans are underway to implement additional pet-friendly areas in various zones to cater to the needs of dogs and other companion animals.
Covering approximately 50 square metres, it serves as a pet relief area and includes designated spaces for activities, a sandbox, a water fountain, poop bag dispensers, a rubbish bin, and a bench for owners.
All these amenities are designed to ensure that passengers and their pets have "the best possible experience" before or after their journey, as highlighted in a statement by Aena.
This recently inaugurated pet-friendly zone is just the beginning, as Aena plans to gradually introduce similar areas in the other terminals of the Madrid hub.
Future installations include an outdoor facility in the arrivals area of Terminal 4 and three indoor spaces in the boarding areas of Terminals 2, 4, and 4S.
The commitment to creating a more pet-friendly environment reflects Aena's dedication to providing an enhanced travel experience for both human and furry passengers so that travellers can look forward to a more comfortable and enjoyable journey with their pets.
