Bus crashes into building site leaving 13 injured, one in critical condition
An unusual incident occurred today, Monday, in Cornellà de Llobregat in Barcelona, where a bus from the L10 line crashed into a building site, leaving 13 people injured. According to information from the Emergency Medical Services (SEM), most people managed to exit the bus on their own, but one person is reported to be in critical condition, six have serious injuries, and another six have minor injuries.
The incident took place around 1:48pm this afternoon at number 262 on the Calle Esplugas in the city when the bus, carrying 25 passengers, overturned after crashing into a construction site.
Eleven SEM teams and five units from the Fire Department of Catalonia were dispatched to the scene to provide medical assistance and stabilise the injured passengers before they were transported to Bellvitge Hospital and Moisès Broggi Hospital in San Juan Despí.
In addition to the injuries suffered by the passengers, the bus fuel tank was ruptured during the accident which needed to be attended to by firefighters to make the area secure for the emergency services to access.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident and construction has been stopped in the meantime.
