Costa del Sol gang arrested that sold drugs via an app and social media
In a significant operation, law enforcement authorities have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking network operating in the Costa del Sol, culminating in the arrest yesterday (Monday) of six people in Malaga and Fuengirola. The alleged criminals utilized an app and various social media networks to orchestrate the sale and distribution of narcotics, reaching destinations across Europe.
The criminal enterprise, reportedly masterminded by the apprehended gang leader, conducted its illicit activities from the confines of a hotel room. Investigations reveal that this location served as a central hub for the preparation and coordination of drug shipments, predominantly consisting of hashish. The leader held clandestine meetings with other members of the organization within this covert setting.
Officers moved in at a critical juncture, apprehending the primary suspect as he was on the verge of dispatching two envelopes, each containing 100 grams of hashish. Subsequent to the arrests, a comprehensive search of the premises led to the confiscation of 1,130 grams of hashish, along with pertinent drug-related paraphernalia. Additionally, a vehicle believed to be linked to the criminal activities was impounded by the authorities.
The arrested individuals face charges related to drug trafficking, and two of the suspects have already been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings. The scope of the operation underlines the increasingly sophisticated methods employed by criminal organizations, utilizing digital platforms for the facilitation of illegal activities. Law enforcement agencies continue to adapt strategies to combat the evolving landscape of transnational crime.
