Couple arrested for burgling eight homes in Callosa d'en Sarrià
The Guardia Civil has arrested a 25-year-old French man and a 32-year-old Spanish woman as the culprits behind eight cases of burglary in the town of Callosa d'en Sarrià in Valencia.
The investigation was initiated at the end of August following reports of several break-ins, one of them involving a resident's car in Callosa d'en Sarrià, from which various personal belongings and banking documents were stolen.
The thieves then used a bank card stolen from the car to fraudulently withdraw money from the victim's account and gained access to a storage room, the keys to which were also found in their vehicle.
Investigating officers managed to identify a man and a woman as the culprits behind these burglaries and, after intensifying surveillance and security measures, they successfully identified two suspects. It was revealed that these same individuals had committed a series of break-ins in properties in the municipality within less than a month.
Squatters:
The Guardia Civil traced the activities of this couple and discovered that they were squatting in a house that they used as a storage space for items obtained through their criminal activities. On September 13th, the operation was executed, resulting in their arrest.
During the search of the property, various items linked to criminal activities were recovered, including jewellery, personal documents of the victims, household appliances, and tools presumably used in the break-ins.
The police have managed to recover and return a significant portion of the stolen items to their rightful owners. However, some stolen items are still in the custody of the Guardia Civil waiting for their owners to collect them. As a result, it is not ruled out that additional victims may come forward.
The couple have already appeared in court and have been released on bail awaiting trial.
