Double Delight: Carme and Vera the first babies of 2024 in Spain

Carme Ballester Catany, a bundle of joy weighing 3.2 kilos, entered the world at three minutes past midnight in the Manacor Hospital on the island of Mallorca.
Her proud parents, Isabel Catany and Joan Toni Ballester from Llucmajor, couldn't contain their excitement as Carme becomes the official First Baby of 2024 in Spain, according to the Balearic Islands Health Service.
Meanwhile, in the vibrant region of Aragon, a simultaneous celebration erupted as Vera Escolano Navarro was born at exactly the same time at the Miguel Servet University Hospital in Zaragoza.
Weighing in at 3,050 kilos, little Vera, daughter of María Teresa and Carlos, shares the coveted title of the First Baby of 2024 in Spain, as declared by the Regional Government of Aragon.
Carme, a second addition to her parents' family, joins her older sister just in time to kick off the year with double the joy. Both the newborn and her mother are reported to be in excellent health.
Adding to the chorus of excitement across Spain, a few minutes later in Andalucia, the San Agustín Hospital in Linares (Jaen) welcomed their first baby of the year, a girl named Arabia.
Proud parents Alicia and Emilio Jesús celebrated the birth of their first child, measuring 52 centimetres and weighing a robust 3.8 kilos, as confirmed by sources from the Ministry of Health.
