EasyJet to open new base at Alicante airport with more flights to the UK
Alicante has made a significant stride in international air connectivity as easyJet announced the establishment of a base at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport during the World Travel Market in London.
This is easyJet's fourth base in Spain, with an existing permanent base at Barcelona-El Prat and two seasonal bases in Mallorca and Málaga.
The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, revealed that easyJet will open the new base in March 2024, and that the airline will station three aircraft at the base and launch a total of nine new air routes connecting Alicante with the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
Specifically, these new air routes will link Alicante with Southampton and Zurich from March 31st of the next year, and with Newcastle, Belfast, Prague, Lyon, Lille, Nantes, and Nice starting in April and May.
Mazón emphasized that these new air routes are expected to bring 125,000 passengers to the Valencian Community during the upcoming summer season, thereby providing a significant economic boost to the tourism sector.
