Iconic Marbella hotel reopens as five-star gem following €31 million investment
The historic Hotel El Fuerte Marbella, which has graced the coast for 65 years, has undergone a remarkable transformation and reopened its doors as a luxurious five-star resort after an astonishing €31 million refurbishment. This substantial investment comprises €14 million in construction, €10 million in equipment, and €7 million in expenses, including licenses, fees, and opening costs.
The Luque García family, the esteemed founders and owners of the hotel, hosted a grand opening celebration on Friday (September 15th) attended by over 400 guests. During the event, attendees had the opportunity to explore the newly designed interiors of the 266-room hotel, masterfully conceived by the renowned designer Jaime Beriestain. He says that he drew inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Andalucía, infusing it with a contemporary touch.
The Luque García family expressed their admiration for Beriestain's work, stating, "He has encapsulated casual luxury within the Andalusian tradition, paired with a contemporary look."
"The new Fuerte Marbella combines warm, harmonious, and open spaces, drawing inspiration from grand palaces and Andalusian farmhouses. Earthy colours, terracotta, spicy hues, natural tones, and vegetable-inspired elements come together in a timeless vision," the family elaborated.
In addition to its opulent accommodations, the newly minted five-star hotel boasts an exquisite Edge restaurant, led by the acclaimed four Michelin-starred chef Paco Pérez. This culinary gem joins the existing Soleo restaurant, which has been delighting guests with top-quality Mediterranean gastronomy for six years.
The transformation of Hotel El Fuerte Marbella represents a significant milestone in the city's hospitality industry, offering a blend of tradition and contemporary elegance that is sure to capture the hearts of both residents and international visitors.
The hotel's reopening serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of Marbella and its commitment to providing world-class accommodations and dining experiences.
