Iconic Marbella hotel set for a 150 million euro facelift
More details have been announced of plans to restore an iconic Marbella hotel to its former glory, which was one of the most popular in the Costa del Sol in its heyday for the rich and famous.
The Incosol opened fifty years ago and built its reputation on state-of-the-art health and well-being treatments for the elite, but it shut its doors for good ten years ago due to financial problems.
Ilanga Hospitality plan to spend more than 150 million euros revamping and relaunching the complex, and have been giving more details this week about the high-profile project.
At a presentation in Madrid this week, attended by the mayor of Marbella, they explained that the new-look building will be ready in late 2025 or early 2026.
The old Incosol, located in the Golf Río Real Urbanization, sits on a 60,000 square metre plot and has a medical centre, a therapeutic spa, and meeting rooms. The plan is to maintain the structure but renovate it and turn it into a 5-star luxury benchmark for health and well-being, going from the current 200 rooms to 180 units, with luxury hotel rooms, suites, and apartments.
Sonia Prieto, general director of the project said: "Our objective is to design a best-in-class value proposition around the client and where our guests feel that the experience restores their health and happiness, promoting a better quality of life and healthy values.”
They estimate that the rehabilitation works will directly employ more than 500 people.
