Irish paedophile is arrested on the Costa del Sol
The Guardia Civil have arrested two fugitives in the Costa Del Sol wanted by the UK and Irish authorities. The first one, arrested in Fuengirola, is a paedophile wanted in Ireland and the other, detained in Marbella, is wanted in connection with a £4.5 million fraud case in the UK.
The first arrest took place when a 43-year-old man was located in Fuengirola who has been on the run from the Irish authorities for several years, wanted for the sexual exploitation of children.
In a statement, the Guardia Civil confirmed that he was arrested outside the property that he had been staying in, and was taken into custody. He is now awaiting extradition after proceedings have been brought before the courts.
The second fugitive was a 47-year-old man arrested in Marbella after collaboration with the UK police force, who informed the Guardia Civil that this man may have recently moved from Portugal to a town on the Costa del Sol, using a fake identity.
According to the Guardia Civil, he had been hiding in various countries for several years before being apprehended in Marbella. He is wanted by the UK authorities for a £4.5 million tax fraud and money laundering. He also now faces extradition.
