Jailed for videoing naked children in the showers on a beach in Estepona
The National Police had to intervene when they saw a group of people chasing a man near a beach in Estepona on the Costa Del Sol last week, who they were told was caught recording naked children in the showers on the beach. This was confirmed by the officers when they opened the image gallery of his mobile phone, so they arrested him.
The incident took place last Wednesday evening (August 23rd) at around 8:30pm, when apparently, bathers surprised the 45-year-old suspect whilst he was filming the youngsters, taking advantage of the fact that the parents undressed the children to rinse them. Since his arrest, the judicial authority has ordered his immediate imprisonment for a crime of child pornography.
On further inspection of the detainee’s phone, they discovered more than 50 videos of naked children recorded on the beach, as reported by the Provincial Police Station.
The man’s arrest led to the opening of an investigation by the Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM), and so far, four families have reported the suspect. The agents also carried out a search of the hotel room where the man was staying, where they confiscated a laptop and memory storage devices.
Until these have been analysed the size of the case won’t be fully known, but it is suspected that a high number of videos and images will be uncovered. The police reports have made Estepona Investigating Court number 1 aware of all the facts, and they have ordered that the suspect remains detained until a trial takes place.
