Lorry driver arrested for fatal hit-and-run on motorway in Torremolinos
A tragic hit-and-run incident on the A-7 motorway in Torremolinos (Costa del Sol) has left one man dead and a lorry driver in custody. The victim, a 57-year-old male, was fatally struck by the fleeing vehicle.
Guardia Civil officers swung into action after receiving an alert about the incident, launching an investigation into the fatal hit-and-run. The driver responsible for the accident callously left the scene without providing any assistance to the injured man.
Following meticulous investigative work by the force's traffic division, the vehicle believed to be involved in the accident was located within the Guadalhorce industrial estate in Malaga City. The lorry showed visible damage consistent with the collision.
Subsequently, officers apprehended the driver, a 47-year-old man, in connection with the incident and for fleeing the scene, leaving the victim without aid in a critical situation.
The case has now been handed over to the judicial authorities, with criminal proceedings being transferred to the courts in Torremolinos. The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to responsible and lawful behaviour on the roads, as well as the consequences of failing to assist those in need during such harrowing situations.
