Man arrested at Malaga Airport after stabbing someone in the neck in Mallorca
A man accused of stabbing another man in the neck in Mallorca has been arrested at Malaga Airport. According to a statement released by the National Police, the victim had to be rushed to Son Espases Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit and underwent emergency surgery.
The homicide unit of the National Police then launched a manhunt to find the perpetrator who had fled the scene straight after the incident, having allegedly caused a 20-centimetre wound to the left side of the victim's neck.
During their investigation, officers discovered that the victim was approached by a man at about 3:00am, who regularly frequented the area, and an argument broke out between them. The victim pushed the assailant and then turned to walk away, and was struck in the neck, instantly falling to the ground.
Officers managed to identify the alleged attacker, a middle-aged Cuban man and discovered that he had left the island hours after the attack and that he was on the Spanish mainland.
Investigators also discovered that he was in Malaga and that he intended to leave Spain. Because of this, a police operation was set up at the airport, where he was spotted by officers and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
