Man dies after drowning at a beach in Benidorm
An 83-year-old man tragically passed away after drowning at a beach in Benidorm on Saturday morning, as reported by sources from the Centre for Information and Coordination of Emergencies (CICU).
They received an alert just after 11:00am informing them that a man had been rescued unconscious from the water in the area near the port of the tourist town, presumably after having a heart attack whilst swimming.
CICU dispatched an ambulance from the Urgent Medical Care Service (SAMU) to the location given, where CPR was being performed on the man at the scene. Upon arrival, paramedics continued with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other recovery techniques, but unfortunately, there was no response, and they could only confirm his death.
The Guardia Civil took responsibility of the body until the judicial authorities gave permission for it to be removed for official identification and an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
