Man jailed for 23 years after stabbing his 89-year-old father to death
A man in Malaga has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for the brutal murder of his 89-year-old father. The Provincial Court revealed that the assailant, who cohabited with his elderly parent, carried out the heinous act on the night of August 2nd, 2021, with apparent premeditation.
Equipped with a knife taken from the family kitchen, the son entered his father's bedroom with the determined intent to end his life. The court heard that he viciously stabbed the elderly man 11 times before callously snatching a golden chain from around his neck. The stolen chain contained a key that provided access to a safe within their residence, concealing 5,000 euros in cash.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries on the scene, and the son hastily fled, leaving the murder weapon on the bedside table. Subsequent investigations by the National Police unveiled that the assailant had devised a plan to escape to the Netherlands. However, his efforts were thwarted, and he was apprehended three days after the gruesome crime at a concealed location.
Upon arrest, the authorities discovered 2,250 euros in cash on the perpetrator, funds that were identified as belonging to his deceased father. The court, in its judgment, sentenced the man to 23 years of incarceration. Additionally, he has been ordered to compensate each of his five siblings with 50,000 euros as part of the legal repercussions for his appalling actions.
The case stands as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences that can arise from domestic disputes, leaving a family shattered and a community in shock.
