P&O cruise ship leaves behind 320 passengers after colliding with an oil tanker
A total of 320 passengers have been disembarked from the P&O Cruises Britannia, the cruise ship that crashed into an oil tanker during storms on Sunday in Mallorca. They left the ship so that it could set sail yesterday and continue its journey around the Mediterranean.
The good news is that, after a thorough inspection, it has been confirmed that the Britannia did not suffer any damage to its infrastructure, but the rafts and lifeboats did.
This is why the cruise ship did not get initial permission from the Maritime Captaincy to set sail because international regulations stipulate that the number of seats available in lifeboats must be greater than the number of passengers on board the main ship.
After leaving 320 passengers behind, who the company is compensating accordingly, the ship was allowed to leave Palma.
