Parents of a 2-month-old baby who tested positive for cocaine are arrested in Marbella
The National Police have arrested the parents for the ill-treatment of their two-month-old baby who was admitted to hospital in the Costa del Sol with a fractured leg, among other injuries, and tested positive for cocaine consumption.
Doctors at the hospital in Marbella raised the alarm on Saturday after medical staff activated protocols due to their suspicions of abuse of the small child by the parents, a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.
The investigation, carried out by officers in Estepona, where the young couple live, led to their arrest at the hospital and their subsequent transfer into police custody.
On Sunday, the parents of the baby appeared before a court in Estepona, which ordered the removal of parental authority for both of them, as a precautionary measure.
According to the National Police, the young child is still admitted to hospital but is now out of danger. The social services have been informed of the situation and will take care of the baby as a precautionary measure until further notice.
