Police find a briefcase containing €225,000 in counterfeit bills in a car in Badalona
The Badalona Local Police discovered a briefcase inside a car on September 6th, which contained €225,000 in counterfeit money. The discovery was made after noticing that the vehicle was parked badly and that someone had tampered with the number plate.
According to police sources who spoke to the EFE news agency, the car belongs to a 39-year-old man from Lloret de Mar (Barcelona), who had left the vehicle improperly parked on a street in the Raval neighbourhood of the city.
Officers decided to remove the vehicle from the public road due to the way it was parked, and noticed that the number plate had been altered so that a "C" looked an "O."
On closer inspection of the vehicle, they found a briefcase containing €225,000 in counterfeit bills, alongside more than €5,000 in genuine currency. As a result, a police investigation has been launched to clarify the facts surrounding the case.
