The 'Cinderella Thief' is caught after a robbery in Torrevieja
A 30-year-old man has been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Torrevieja, nicknamed the ‘Cinderella Thief’ because he left behind a shoe after robbing a bar at knifepoint in the Alicante town.
The Guardia Civil received a call alerting them to a robbery that had taken place in a bar, where the man had threatened staff with a large knife before getting away with 540 euros, losing a shoe in the process.
Officers quickly went to the bar where they interviewed staff, looked at CCTV footage, and took away the shoe. Using this information, they were able to identify and locate the thief in less than three hours before going to his registered address.
When they got there they arrested the man, who already has a police record, and searched his home, finding a matching shoe to the one left at the scene of the crime, as well as the knife and the stolen money.
The detainee was made available to the Investigating Court No. 4 of Torrevieja, which ordered his entry into provisional prison, charged with armed robbery.
