The N-332 road is closing for work on the Mascarat tunnels
The Ministry of Transport have informed that the N-332 highway between Altea and Calpe will be closed between May 14th and 21st for one week so that improvements can be made to the Mascarat tunnels.
Work on the road surface has been carried out over the last few weeks by closing off one lane at a time and diverting traffic down the other one, but Calpe Town Hall have confirmed that both lanes will be closed off from Sunday May 14th between kilometres 164+700m and 165+500m
Drivers will be required to use the AP-7 motorway between the Altea-Calpe exit (64) and the Benissa-Teulada-Gata de Gorgos exit (63) until the work is finished, however, the N-332 junctions for Maryvilla and the Barranc Salt will remain open for drivers heading towards Calpe.
This work is part of the Spanish government’s Resilience Plan and financed by funds from the EU’s Next Generation scheme, which aimed at adapting the country’s infrastructure to meet European road safety requirements.
The work on the tunnel includes improving emergency exits, signposting, drainage, ventilation, fire protection, lighting, electrical installations, communications, and traffic management.
