Travel agencies see increased bookings for Easter of 6% compared to 2023
Travel agencies are anticipating an increase of up to 6% in bookings for this Easter compared to 2023. This projection, revealed by José Manuel Lastra, the vice president of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV), is due to a surge in interest to travel, particularly to the Canary Islands, and because Easter is early this year.
Lastra explained that the earlier timing of Easter, which falls at the end of March this year, is a significant factor contributing to the expected growth. He noted that this shift in dates will have a positive impact on revenue figures for the month of March.
Reservations for the Spanish Costas are a bit slower due to the dates of Easter this year, but a surge in last minute bookings is expected nearer the time.
When it comes to the most sought-after destinations, European capitals, the Caribbean, cruises, and the United States, especially New York, are at the forefront, and there is an increase in demand for Asian countries.
On the domestic front, the primary demand is for the islands, with a notable preference for the Canary Islands over the Balearic Islands, due to the southern location and better all year-round weather in the Canaries.
Regarding pricing, package holidays may see a small increase of 2% to 3%, but Lastra assured that there won't be price increases as seen in 2023, which were driven by cost increments and high inflation, resulting in a double-digit surge in prices.
