UK air traffic control latest: 'Significant' disruption and more delays expected today
More disruptions and flight delays are expected today (Tuesday) at UK airports following a complete crash of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system yesterday, which led to chaos at airports, not just in the UK, but across Europe due to the knock-on effect with over 500 flights cancelled.
What are major airports and airlines saying about today?
Heathrow Airport has said its services will "remain significantly disrupted". Britain's busiest airport is urging passengers to contact their airline before travelling to the airport.
In a statement, they said: "The issue has been resolved, however, schedules remain significantly disrupted. If you are travelling on 29th August, please ensure you contact your airline before travelling to the airport."
London Gatwick said it plans to operate a normal schedule today following the disruption. However, passengers have been advised to check the status of their flight with their airline before travelling to the airport.
London Stansted also said it planned to run a normal flight schedule on Tuesday, but added: "Our terminal may be busier than anticipated".
Luton Airport said, "Flights may be subject to delay or cancellation".

Major UK airlines such as TUI and BA have warned of "significant delays" for passengers amid changes to schedules.
Travel disruption could last for days.
Aviation analysts fear yesterday's disruption could have knock-on effects that last well into this week, with planes in the wrong places, and a backlog of passengers to get through. National Air Traffic Services operations director, Juliet Kennedy, has warned that "it will take some time for flights to return to normal".
