Woman arrested at Alicante Bus Station with more than 6 kilos of hashish
Agents of the National Police and the Local Police in Alicante have arrested a woman at the city's bus station in possession of six kilos of hashish. The arrest took place a few days ago on the bus route from Málaga to Barcelona, with a stop in Alicante, thanks to the collaboration of the two police forces.
After suspecting there was someone carrying drugs on the bus, National Police officers and the canine unit of the Local Police decided to carry out an inspection inside the bus, according to a National Police press release.
Upon reaching the seat where a woman was sitting, the dog gave a previously trained mark or signal to indicate that it had detected some type of drug, so agents asked the woman to take the backpack she was carrying with her and to get off the bus and, once outside, they asked her to empty her bag.
The woman had no choice but to conform, and took out a rectangular package completely wrapped in packing tape, which also contained coffee beans, which are used to try and put dogs off the scent.
Officers immediately realized that it was hashish, so they asked her to remove the rest of the things stored in the backpack and discovered there were another 14 packages, which together with the first one added up to a total weight of more than six kilos of hashish.
For this reason, the 31-year-old Moroccan woman was arrested and identified, which is when police found that she already had a previous police record for similar offences. She has been charged with a crime against public health and is in custody of the Investigating Court of Alicante awaiting trial.
